According to the decision of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg, a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council will be held in mid-January 2022.

This was reported by the Turkish agency Anadolu, citing sources in the Alliance.

It is noted that the negotiations will most likely take place on January 12 and, according to the source, NATO is now "in contact with Russia on this issue."

At the same time, a meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of NATO member states is scheduled for January 12.

We will remind, earlier Stoltenberg declared that NATO wants to discuss with Russia increase in armies at borders of Ukraine in the beginning of 2022.

Earlier, Russia demanded from NATO not to expand the Alliance to the east and to abandon military activities in Ukraine.

In response to such demands, Stoltenberg said that NATO allies had made it clear to Russia that if it took steps to reduce tensions, the Alliance was ready to work to "strengthen confidence-building measures."
