US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Russia's actions towards Ukraine - political and military - arouse fears by the US leadership.
As reported on the website of the State Department, such a statement was made during Blinken's visit to Senegal, on November 20.
He noted that the US top leadership has been alarmed for several weeks by the unusual activity of Russia near the border with Ukraine. In addition, the US Presidential Administration expresses serious concerns about some statements by the Russian leadership.
“We do not know what the intentions of President Putin are, but we know what happened in the past. We know the pattern of actions when Russia tries to refer to some illusory provocation from Ukraine or any other country, and then uses this as an excuse to do what Russia has planned to do all this time," - Blinken said.
Also, the US Secretary of State noted that the States held consultations with partners from Europe because of the situation in Ukraine, stressing that the EU is concerned about Russia's actions, therefore, real attention is paid to this issue.
